Reflexology

 Reflexology is a type of bodywork that focuses on applying pressure to the specific nerve zones in your feet and hands. Unlike other foot or hand massages that intend to mostly relieve tension in the extremities themselves, reflexology is a far more in-depth science that aims to harmonize your entire body. According to reflexology, every part of the human body is mapped into your feet and hands. Reflexology treatments have been found to be highly effective for conditions such as allergies, headaches, and depression.  We incorporate reflexology into any Integrative Table Massage.  If you would like a session soley for reflexology on hands and feet, please reserve a 30 minute integrative massage and let us know in the notes section what you would like to have done.

Integrative Massage

At Musica Humana, we practice Integrative Massage to allow us complete freedom when customizing a session to fit the client's needs.  Our therapists are certified in deep tissue massage techniques, including neuromuscular therapy (also known as trigger point therapy) and connective tissue therapy, as well as traditional Swedish massage.    We use every technique at our disposal, therefore your session may include isolated hot stone, cupping, or aromatherapy treatments as needed.  The use of hot towels or cold packs is complementary in every massage session! 

Our sessions are safe for people of all ages and we are committed to doing our best to meet your needs.  Whether you are experiencing chronic pain, have an active lifestyle, dealing with stress, involved in a sporting event, feeling the pains of aging, or just want to stay on top of your health, Musica Humana will create a massage session just for you.

Pregnancy Massage

Pregnancy Massage is a style of bodywork designed specifically for pregnant women. Pregnancy is a time when a woman's body endures tremendous stress due to dramatic physical and emotional changes. Using various techniques specially developed for the expecting mother, Pregnancy Massage helps release the pain and discomfort experienced throughout pregnancy. The benefits are profound, including emotional support, the relief of joint pain due to extra weight and postural imbalance, and improved breathing and relaxation.

Our therapist is certified in Advanced Prenatal Massage.

Hot Stone Therapy

Hot Stone Therapy is a style of massage where heated stones are used in stagnant placement and in fluid motion to increase body temperature, relieve muscle tension, and provide relaxation. Hot stone massage is beneficial for some types of arthritis, muscle and menstrual cramps, and to increase muscle flexibility.  Muscles that are heated with these stones release tension and stress much more deeply and quickly than with a traditional massage. The overall experience is very relaxing, nurturing, and rejuvenating.

ACE Massage Cupping

By creating suction and negative pressure, cupping therapy is used to soften tight muscles, loosen adhesions, bring blood flow to body tissues, and drain excess fluids and waste products by opening lymphatic passages. This type of bodywork is versatile enough to accomplish a variety of techniques; from lymphatic drainage to deep tissue release. In our cupping add-on, vacuum cups (NOT fire cups) are used on the back, neck, shoulders, as well as the sacral, hip, and thigh areas. For those new to cupping, the sensation of the cups can be described as a deep warmth and tingling sensation that lasts long after the treatment is done. On occasion, there may be some discoloration to the skin called a “cup-kiss” or "mark" that indicates the release of intense stagnation (body fluids and wastes) in the area. This is not a bruise and will dissipate anywhere between a few hours or a few days. Cupping is safe for children, adults, and the elderly but should not be over-used. AFTER YOUR MASSAGE: hydrate with water, do not exercise until the next day, avoid extreme hot or cold, do not receive any additional bodywork for 48 hours, and call us with any questions!

Paraffin Wax Deep Heat Treatment

This $10 service may be added to any table massage session.  Experience a full paraffin dip on hands and feet and let the heat soak in deep while you enjoy your massage.  Paraffin dipping is extremely beneficial for the joints and conditions such as osteoarthritis.

INFANT MASSAGE COURSE

Parents, expectant parents, and caregivers may learn the healing art of infant massage to help with bonding and better health for their

children.  Designed for ages 3 weeks to 3 years, our four class course teaches current or expectant parents how to do a full body massage for their little ones at a time that is good for them and addresses specific concerns any parent may face.

GROUP COURSE:

     Watch for announcements for group class listings!  Four classes within two weeks will be scheduled.  Location and times may change, but will always be in the greater Afton, NY and surrounding areas.

         $65 per Family (2 Adults and One Child)

       **Minimum of 2 families for a group course**

        A down payment of $35 is required to reserve enrollment.  The remaining $30 is due by the first class.  The down payment is non-refundable within 72 hours of the first class.  Missed classes due to illness may be made up prior to or after subsequent classes.
   
After your down payment has been processed, you will receive the enrollment papers via e-mail.  *Please note* you must have a healthcare provider release form signed by your child's doctor to participate in the class. (Form will be provided in the enrollment paperwork)

PRIVATE IN-OFFICE COURSE:

     The in-office private classes of two hour long sessions and must be booked within two weeks of each other.  Please contact the office to schedule a private course.

                                $130 for the full course (covers 2 Adults and One Child)

PRIVATE or GROUP IN-HOME COURSE:

     If an in-home education is easier for your family, please call our office to arrange class times and assess travel fees.  Discounts are available per group size!  607-383-0553

     Host an infant massage course!  Invite friends and family members with young children (or expecting children) and receive a special gift!  For group sizes of 3 or more families, receive a discount of $15 off per family.  Group sizes of 5 or more families receive a discount of $25 off per family!
